RAID Alert

Just a quick post to put up details on a little utility for monitoring mac software RAID 1 drives - RAID Alert.

RAID Alert is a unique application that continuously monitors attached RAID systems based on the free (Mac OS X built-in) RAID software. It will inform you about any RAID systems' status changes (esp. failures) via email, a notification dialog and an alert sound.

Never again will a hard disk failure go unnoticed - even on unattended headless servers!

LlamaLog

LlamaLog is more than a logging tool, it is a flexible asset management suite, designed from the ground up for use in production editing environments. It aids in collaboration between editors, loggers, producers, and archivists. It is not solely a list of clips, but an entire workflow, highly integrated with Final Cut Pro and AVID.

As show deadlines shrink and shooting volumes skyrocket, productions have become more collaborative and at the same time more distributed. LlamaLog offers the tools to unify your post production, to leverage the countless hours of logging and transcription, and to give editors and producers the information -and video- they need, when they need it.

LlamaLog is currently in closed beta testing, it's one to keep an eye on.

What is Traffic?

Traffic – Visual feedback to show the flow of your edit through the interface.

Traffic presents a new model in the non-linear editing school of thought. It utilizes whats called a dependency graph, and it’s the same interface that high-end visual effects software like Apple's Shake uses. Operators connect “nodes” together to form a chain of events they want to perform on a clip. Traffic employs this node-based interface and has infused it with an editor's mindset. Changes and tweaks which seemed too tedious or even impossible to do can now be done in a matter of seconds.
